Salt-tinged air and familiar horizons welcomed me back to Jaffna, the place where my story first began. The journey opened on the water, crossing towards the island with fishermen balancing nets in small boats while a temple tower rose colourfully in the distance. As the day unfolded, the sun dipped low over the sea, turning the sky a deep crimson before settling into a quiet golden glow across the waves. I wandered through bustling streets where vendors sat beside trays of freshly fried snacks, their conversations blending with the rhythm of passing bicycles and tuk-tuks. By evening, families gathered along the shoreline, children splashing in the surf as the light softened over the Indian Ocean. Beneath ornate temple carvings and statues painted in vivid hues, I paused not just as a traveller, but as someone returning home, reconnecting with the roots, resilience and warmth that define Pointpedro, the home of Kugan Studio.
