As I wandered through Seville’s narrow pastel-lined streets, the quiet morning air carrying the scent of orange blossoms the walk gradually opened into the grandeur of Plaza de España, where the vast semicircle of terracotta arches reflected in the fountain and horse-drawn carriages rolled gently across the square. From there, I looked up at the ornate towers rising proudly against a deep blue sky before stepping into shaded courtyards filled with palm trees and intricate Moorish carvings. Inside the palaces and chapels, gilded ceilings and delicate stonework glowed warmly, each detail telling stories of layered history. The day unfolded slowly through gardens framed by citrus trees and tiled colonnades, ending with a quiet pause beneath the sweeping curves of the Metropol Parasol a modern contrast to the timeless elegance woven through Seville’s soul.
Warm Andalusian light bathed the golden stone as the journey began in Seville, where grand cathedrals and ornate ceilings shimmered beneath intricate carvings and vaulted domes. Wandering through quiet courtyards scented with orange trees, I traced the delicate Moorish details that glowed softly against the blue sky before continuing onward to Córdoba. There, the Roman bridge stretched across the river towards the magnificent Mezquita, its arches and richly decorated domes unfolding in mesmerising symmetry. The road then led south to Ronda, where whitewashed houses clung dramatically to towering cliffs, overlooking a deep gorge carved by a rushing river far below. As evening settled over the valley, the landscape softened into hues of green and amber a striking finale to a journey through Spain’s layered history and breathtaking scenery.
